Jennifer Lopez : Greatest Letdown Was Her Fashion Lines

Jennifer Lopez sat down with the New York Times to talk about being the nice judge on "American Idol," her "not-so-great" movies and the number of outfits she lays out for her kids and husband each day (three).

She also revealed her greatest career letdown -- her fashion collections:

"That was sad for me," she said, as she pushed a strand of stray hair back in place. "I just felt like I never got a fair chance to do it right. And on top of it, I felt like I was trapped in a situation I couldn't get out of, and my name was stamped on things that I didn't believe in."

As for what went wrong -- the sportswear line, which had its debut in 2001, was criticized for being overpriced and cheaply made -- Ms. Lopez said she "didn't understand the business well enough" and didn't have enough creative control. More crucially, she didn't seem to understand how to translate her iconic red carpet style -- the navel-plunging green Versace gown she wore to the Grammy Awards in 2000; the mink eyelashes -- to an off-the-rack business.

But practice makes perfect, right? Jenny from the block recently re-concentrated her efforts with a lifestyle brand for Kohl's. Tommy Hilfiger, who's working alongside J.Lo on her wares, told the Times, "The difference this time around is that Jennifer is fully engaged with a company that is professionally staffed to really develop anything she wants, from towels to knee-high suede boots," adding, "She lives fashion."

And it sounds like a match made in celeb/fashion collab. heaven. Lopez previously told UsMagazine.com, "One of the exciting things about it is that they wanted something new. They need other things that are a different style, a different sensibility and that's why they came to us."

Satoshi Kanazawa Psychologist Causes Firestorm After Claiming Black Women Are Less Attractive

Satoshi Kanazawa sparked a firestorm with his latest posting entitled, "A Look at the Hard Truths About Human Nature."

The evolutionary psychologist at the London School of Economics argues that black women are less physically attractive than other women. The article was quickly removed from the site, but not before screenshots made their way onto BuzzFeed. Some excerpts:

What accounts for the markedly lower average level of physical attractiveness among black women? Black women are on average much heavier than nonblack women. The mean body-mass index (BMI) at Wave III is 28.5 among black women and 26.1 among nonblack women. (Black and nonblack men do not differ in BMI: 27.0 vs. 26.9) However, this is not the reason black women are less physically attractive than nonblack women. Black women have lower average level of physical attractiveness net of BMI. Nor can the race difference in intelligence (and the positive association between intelligence and physical attractiveness) account for the race difference in physical attractiveness among women. Black women are still less physically attractive than nonblack women net of BMI and intelligence. Net of intelligence, black men are significantly more physically attractive than nonblack men.

The only thing I can think of that might potentially explain the lower average level of physical attractiveness among black women is testosterone. Africans on average have higher levels of testosterone than other races, and testosterone, being an androgen (male hormone), affects the physical attractiveness of men and women differently. Men with higher levels of testosterone have more masculine features and are therefore more physically attractive. In contrast, women with higher levels of testosterone also have more masculine features and are therefore less physically attractive. The race difference in the level of testosterone can therefore potentially explain why black women are less physically attractive than women of other races, while (net of intelligence) black men are more physically attractive than men of other races.

Kanazawa, whose prior, controversial works can be viewed in part here, was met with widespread backlash. Jenée Desmond-Harris at The Root wrote, "The blog's presentation of the allegedly scientific findings had a decidedly informal tone, especially given the highly contentious conclusions. It struck us as so outrageous that we almost thought it was a hoax of some sort, and we double-checked the URL to make sure it didn't include 'The Onion.'"

Latoya Peterson at Racialicious opined: "Justifying racism using 'science' isn't new, by any means. Every few years, it appears that someone needs to provide a rationale for bigotry, so they publish some sort of madness and hope most of the readers suffer from scientific illiteracy. The problem is that even with a thorough debunking, people latch on to articles like this to confirm their own biases."

Kaja Perina, Psychology Today's editor-in-chief, didn't explain why Kanazawa's piece was removed, however she told NPR, "Our bloggers are credential social scientists and for this reason they are invited to post to the site on topics of their choosing. We in turn reserve the right to remove posts for any number of reasons. Because the post was not commissioned or solicited by PT , there was no editorial intent to address questions of race and physical attractiveness."

Cutoff For Wearing A Miniskirt : Survey Shows 35 (VIDEO)

Over 35? Boy, do we have some news for you.A recent survey out of Britain revealed that no one wants to see you in a miniskirt. Period.

More than 2,000 women took the poll, which administered by Diet Chef, some sort of self esteem-boosting prepared-meals site. The findings show that age 47 is the cutoff for wearing a bikini, 61 for swimsuits altogether, and at 51, you can skip both the stilettos and the ponytails.

Apparently, ladies can slip into their Uggs until they've spent 45 years on planet Earth -- that's four and a half decades worth of crimes of fashion committed by sporting the sheepskin boots.

However, these aren't hard-and-fast rules. Caron Leckie, a nutritionist for Diet Chef, told the Daily Mail, "It's up to individuals to choose when they should stop wearing certain items. ... Saying that, everyone wants to look the best they can and now is the prime time to get in shape for summer."

Penelope Cruz Goes White & Lacy To 'Pirates' Premiere

After stealing the style show in a feathered and embellished black gown at Disneyland's "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" premiere, Penelope Cruz switched things up sartorially to debut the flick in London on Thursday night.

The actress stepped out in a lacy and zippered Givenchy Haute Couture number with a dramatic center slit. And while we're crazy about Penny's look, she's already been called out for looking a tad too much like Kate Middleton on her big day. Can't a girl in white catch a break?

I Felt 'Totally Worthless' : Sarah Ferguson On Not Being Invited To Royal Wedding (VIDEO)

Sarah Ferguson sat down with Oprah to talk about being excluded from the recent royal wedding.

She remarked, "I went through the phase of feeling so totally worthless and and that [it] was quite right they didn't invite me. Why would they, why would they invite me? I felt that I ostracized myself by my behavior, by my past, by living with all of the regrets of my mistakes that I sort of wore a hair shirt and beat myself up most of the day, thinking and regretting why did I make such a mistake...why have I made so many mistakes."

She added, "It was so difficult because I wanted to be there with my girls and to be getting them dressed and to go as a family. And also, it was so hard because the last bride up that aisle was me....When Andrew went with the girls, we were talking all morning and he was saying, 'It's okay, just remember we had such a good day, our wedding was so perfect,' you know, because we're such a unit together. He made me feel such a part of the day on April 29th."

She said that instead of sticking around London, she went to Thailand, where the jungle "embraced" her.
